The Canmore Summer Theatre Festival

The Canmore Summer Theatre Festival, produced by Pine Tree Players, brings two stunning outdoor plays—The Wizard of Oz and Treasure Island—to the Stan Rogers Memorial Stage in Centennial Park this July. Combining family-friendly daytime matinees with evening adventure dramas, this community-powered festival blends local talent, unforgettable storytelling, and Rocky Mountain scenery for a truly unique summer experience.

Every July, the talented Pine Tree Players bring theatre to life in Centennial Park, creating a magical blend of community, storytelling, and mountain scenery. The Canmore Summer Theatre Festival, now in its fifth year, is your summer ticket to live drama and family fun in the Rockies.

🎭 What’s On Stage?

The festival this summer features two main stage productions alternating throughout the event:

  • The Wizard of Oz, adapted by Erin Detrick, follows Dorothy’s beloved journey down the Yellow Brick Road in a lively, imaginative outdoor staging. Performances run daily at 1:00 PM from July 9–20 (closed July 14–15).
  • As evening falls, Treasure Island, adapted by Mary Zimmerman and directed by Kelsey James, brings thrilling pirate adventure complete with stage combat, puppetry, movement, and choral performances. Catch it at 7:00 PM, July 9–13 & 16–19.

Both plays are outdoors on the scenic Stan Rogers Memorial Stage—an intimate setting where blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets are warmly welcomed.
